Wildflower Walk: Wallula Gap and Two Sisters

April 2 @ 9:30 am - 1:30 pm

Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the parking lot at Wallula State Park (adjacent to Madame Dorion State Park) to join Bob Carson, Ernie Crediford, and Janelle Downs to learn about native flora, and the geology and ecology of the Wallula Gap. This is a multi-stop trip with opportunities to walk and hike as desired. The trip begins at Wallula Unit of McNary Wildlife Refuge for an introduction to the geological features of Wallula Gap. Next travel to the Twin Sisters for botanizing and lunching (and more geological features). Leaving Twin Sisters, there is a stop at Spring Gulch before continuing to Juniper Canyon and an optional hike up to the ridge. To get there, from Hway 12, about 0.25 miles north of Walla Walla River and approximately 0.5 miles north of the Wallula Junction of Hwy 12 and Hwy 730, turn to the east onto Northshore Road. This will be a left turn if you are coming from the Tri-Cities, or a right hand turn if coming from Walla Walla. Follow Northshore Road for about 0.5 miles to a parking area.
